Specialty Insurance
What your Main Policies Leave Out
Most people don't know what their insurance leaves out until something happens, and that is a hard time to learn it.
Standard home and auto policies don't cover everything, and no single policy does. Specialty insurance picks up where your main policies stop. At Zimmer's Embershield Insurance Agency, we explain what each type covers so you can decide what you need.
What we cover
Types of Specialty Insurance
-
Flood Insurance
When most people think of flood insurance, they picture a river rising into someone's living room. Flood insurance does cover that, but it also applies to things like mudslides.
That matters in our part of California. You can live up in the mountains, far from any river, and still need a flood policy. If you have skipped flood insurance because you don't live near water, please give us a call.
-
Earthquake Insurance
Earthquake insurance covers your home when the shaking damages it. Most people understand that part, but they often overlook the damage a quake can set off.
For example, suppose the earth shakes, and the shaking causes an explosion. Only an earthquake policy would cover that damage. If you own a home in California, this coverage is well worth a conversation.
-
Umbrella Insurance
Umbrella insurance may be the most misunderstood policy available. It protects you from lawsuits that are too large for your main policies to handle.
Coverage generally starts at $1 million. That may sound like a lot, but lawsuits are more common than many people realize. On average, 113 million Americans will be sued at least once in their lifetime. An umbrella policy sits on top of your other coverage and gives you an added layer of protection if it happens to you.
-
Specialty Vehicle Insurance
Boats, ATVs, motorcycles, and similar vehicles are a lot of fun. They are also just as dangerous and expensive as your car, if not more so.
There is something else to consider. If you own recreational vehicles, you are more likely to be sued, and for more money, than someone who doesn't own them. Fairly or not, people see those vehicles and assume you have money. We can help you insure each one and show you how an umbrella policy works alongside it.
